Pink House, Two Guesthouses on Sao Miguel Island, Azores

The Pink House Azores

Have you ever visited the Azores? I recently stumbled across this gorgeous guesthouse and now I absolutely have to go there. Pink House is a stunning pink three bedroom barn conversion in one of Portugal’s most beautiful regions with vast outdoor areas. It has been remodeled in 2017 and transformed into two contemporary guest houses that breathe history and tradition. The Pink House offers wide open spaces on two floors with a simple contemporary aesthetic, allowing the rural and timeless character of the pre-existing barn to remain.

The three bedrooms offer four beds between them, and all are located on the ground floor. Expect contemporary, minimalist décor and furniture, soft beds, clean lines and a strong sense of architectural precision and Mediterranean calm.

Upstairs on the ground floor you’ll find the perfect self-catering kitchen, with everything you need to whip up a light picnic or a full blown slap up evening meal for six. On this upper floor there is also the terrace. The living room is also on this floor, with its exposed overhead rafters, high ceilings, and large television opposite the spacious sofa. Everything about this former barn has been judiciously envisaged, designed and fitted, resulting in a unique space which combines contemporary subtlety with warmth and comfort.

The island of São Miguel is one of Azores 9 nine Atlantic islands, only a two-hour flight from Lisbon. The property is very close to the island’s main city, Ponta Delgada, but still one can enjoy the pleasures and calm of a rural area. The historic center of Ponta Delgada can be reached in 7 minutes by car. The houses are 15 minutes drive away from the airport and the nearest beach is only 10 minutes away.
