Penthouse M by Melbourne based Architects CJH Studio

Melbourne-based interior design practice CJH Studio has created this creamy toned beachside penthouse on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Guided by Cassie’s James-Herrick refined eye for detail and understanding of materiality and spatial arrangement; CJH Studio celebrates the use of natural materials and soft forms. The approach was to retain the character of the 1970s penthouse with its beautiful elements such as the existing travertine flooring and the soft curving forms of the building, which became the main influence to the new design.

The curved elements were intentionally referenced and highlighted, showcased in the large arch in the living room, the circular workbench inserted into the kitchen and an internal stairway connecting the 250 square metre apartment. The organic softness of the arch motif, glass blocks, tiled walls and a minimalist textural palette are curating a soft and calm atmosphere.
