Travel: Okko Hotels Gare de L’Est, Paris by Studiopepe

Hotellerie group OKKO has recently opened its ninth member between the Gare de l’Est and the Rue d’Alsace and asked Italian duo Studiopepe to design the lobby and “le Club”, the central living space of the hotel.

The layout is a reinterpretation of the free plan: a fluid space without physical barriers but with light and mobile dividing elements – such as curtains and partitions – ensuring free and airy feel for the space. Apricot sofas are mixed with circular pale-pink carpets, neon lights illuminate the space, a warm chromatic palette goes from dusty pink to cognac terracotta with spots of yellow cedar, splotches of brass and brushstrokes of cement gray. When it comes to furnishings the duo chose iconic pieces and reissues from brands like Tacchini, B-Line, Areti and fabrics from Kvadrat, which flank numerous custommade pieces.

The concept of the area dedicated to breakfast & bar is inspired by trains’ dining cars, with love seats and dividers.

Okko Gare de l’Est with its 170 rooms benefits from a privileged location along platform n°2 of the Gare de l’Est. On its roof the hotel features a 2,600 m² public garden, owned by the City of Paris.
