Travel Switzerland: Maison Bergdorf, Interlaken

Let’s face it: travelling to distant countries isn’t an option this summer. After a short period of grief I had to remind myself that I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and now I’m ready to explore!

Over the coming weeks I will present you my favourite Swiss hideaways – let’s start today with Maison Bergdorf – a charming boutique bed & breakfast with a parklike garden, located in the centre of Interlaken. The chalet villa was built in 1897, recently renovated and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique, modern and contemporary furniture and artworks.

The villa is sporting several individually designed double and single rooms, three ground floor parlors, equipped with cosy sofas, armchairs, writing desks and an open fireplace, as well as two huge verandas, a covered terrace and the wild romantic garden.

Maison Bergdorf is a place to unwind – beautiful greens on the outside and inside a mix of contemporary and mid-century design, ethno objects, selected antique pieces and modern art. On display are works by Chantal Michel, Martin Guggisberg, Daniel Suter, Tran Phuc Duyen and Barbara Kiener.

You can also rent the entire villa with your friends or family – the bedrooms and spacious common rooms house up to 10 guests and there is also a well-equipped kitchen at your disposal.

The hosts: Mirko, a journalist with a knack for interior design, art and architecture and Stéphane, an art lover and the interior designer of Maison Bergdorf
