Arne Jacobsen AJ Lamps

I totally love the AJ Floor- and Tablelamps created by Arne Jacobsen in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. This classic icon of modern design will be enjoyed for many years to come. It is rumoured that the circular cut out in the heavy iron base of the lamp was originally intended to hold an ashtray. Which might be true, as smoking was very popular in the 1960s, but also without an ashtray the hole adds elegance and lightness to the lamps. For the 50th anniversary of the AJ lightning family 5 new colours have been added. Pictures via Connox.
